2011 CrossFit Games

CrossFit at the Arnold

Kick-off the Games Season with this year's top contenders

CrossFit will be holding a special event at the Arnold Sports Festival from March 4th through March 6th in Columbus, Ohio. Register to test your fitness beside some of the top athletes from the CrossFit Games.  The weekend will be packed with classic workouts so that you can compete side by side with Rich Froning Jr., Austin Malleolo, Josh Everett, Camille LeBlanc, Kevin Montoya, Mikko Salo, Christy Phillips, Miranda Oldroyd, Rob Orlando, Graham Holmberg, Matt Chan, Ben Smith, Dan Bailey, Jason Khalipa, and many more.

This is also the ONLY chance that the community will have to complete the final three WODs from the 2010 Games.  We'll have an exact replica of the course rebuilt inside the Grand Ballroom.  That's right...the walls are back in action for this weekend only!  As a kicker, you'll have Games Athletes and HQ Trainers coaching/judging you through the WODs.  You can't do this at your local box!

Even if you do not plan to compete, this is going to be a great weekend.  Kick off the 2011 Games Season with some of the top athletes from Team Rogue and Team Again Faster; pick up some new gear and meet with members of Reebok's outreach program; and join us for an after party on Saturday night.

Schedule for the weekend (subject to change, of course):

Friday - 9am - 4pm: Register and compete in up to four classic named CrossFit workouts.  Games athletes will be throwing down as well, going for new world records in classic named workouts.  Not to be missed.

Saturday - 9am - 4pm: Sign-in for a slot to compete in the final 3 workouts from the 2010 Games.  Games Athletes and HQ Trainers will be on hand to coach people through the workouts, and also swap coaching tips with all comers.

Saturday - 7pm - 10pm+: Meet us for a Reebok-sponsored after party with the whole crew.

Sunday - 9am - 2pm: Top men and women competitors from Saturday's Games workouts will be paired and compete for top team of the weekend.  Prizes to be awarded for top three finishing teams.  Workouts will be announced Sunday morning

The cost for the weekend is $20, in addition to cost of entry to the Arnold Classic itself.  Remember that if you want to check out the other cool stuff going on at the Arnold Sports Festival it will run you an additional $10 for the weekend.  Book now since the weekend is going to be sold out FAST!!!

Son of a ......, I have to check into Dive School for the Marines. Why, OH why, can't the games/competitions be conducive to the servicemen's schedule. Well at least sectionals will be sort of. Thank CF, you are helping us get stronger for a job few will do.

Regarding the Saturday Sign-In for the slot to compete in the final 3 workouts of the 2010 Games... Once we register for $20, I assume that allows us to compete on Friday in the named wods. Does it also guarantee us a spot for Saturday's final 3 wods or is that "sign-in" on a first-come, first-serve basis? How many "top men" and how many "top women" will be taken from Saturday into Sunday's competition?

Let's see if I am getting this right. We register now to be be able to sign-up for the 4 events listed, or at least 3, and then maybe the 4th. I am likely not interested or can make all of them, but I still need to register if I just want to do the games workout right? Just trying to clarify what it is that I am registering for and what I then sign-up for. Thanks! This sounds awesome!

Cole - If you sign up you can do anything on the schedule.

You will need to compete on Saturday to be in the running for the events on Sunday.

It will be a great event for everyone to get some reps in and have fun competing with/against the top athletes.

Will there be any workouts for the masters.

Does registering and paying the $20 gaurantee you a spot to compete or workout, or just a "chance" to get a spot if there are any left open. For instance, after paying my $20, do I have to get there early to sign up before the spots are full? I would hate to pay $20 and not get to do a WOD. Or is the $20 just to see the crossfit events?

Jacinto - Everything is an open format, we will be able to scale the WODS.

KE - The slots on Friday are limited but we will stop registration once the heats fill up on Saturday.

Bill,

I have a few members from my affiliate that are interested in registering. Are the WODs on Saturday also scalable?

Does someone need to register if they just want to be a spectator? Does the $10 entry fee to the Arnold let them come watch these events also?

This article says entry to the Arnold is $10 for the weekend -- just FYI the Arnold Sports Festival website indicates it is $10/day for advance tickets or $27 for a three-day pass. Tickets are not date-specific (you can buy a one-day ticket and use it for Fri, Sat, OR Sun). http://arnoldsportsfestival.com/bulletins/articles/AFSNews15
