Caity Matter at the Rogue vs. Again Faster Tahoe Throwdown
The 2008 Champ and Rogue Athlete Talks Basketball and CrossFit
Three minutes and thirty seconds. That's how quickly Caity Matter squat clean and jerked 100 lbs. thirty times. When the clock had stopped, Caity stepped on the podium as the 2008 CrossFit Games female champion.
Caity's athletic history began years earlier on the hard wood floors of a basketball court. She played college basketball at Ohio State, and went on to play in the WNBA with the Charlotte Sting. After she broke her foot playing ball, Caity found CrossFit and made it her sport. Continuing her basketball career was still an option, but she "wanted to be able to walk when she was older." The constant impact of professional basketball had already taken a toll on her joints.
Caity has continued to play a big role in the CrossFit community, as a announcer at the 2010 CrossFit Games and working for the equipment supplier Rogue Fitness.
