James Hobart Helps Out Steve's Club
The Games Competitor Mentors the Next Generation
James Hobart competed in both the 2009 and 2010 CrossFit Games and represented Team Again Faster at the Rogue vs. Again Faster Tahoe Throwdown. Besides his athletic accomplishments, though, James can now add mentor to his resume. James recently spoke to the kids of Steve's Club, about the lessons that CrossFit had taught him.
James finished first at the Northeast Regionals in 2009, but came in a disappointing 70th place at the 2009 Games. James spent the next year working on his weak points, running and maximal strength. The hard work paid off, and James finished in 18th in 2010.
Beyond training weak points, James also spoke to the kids at Steve's Club about organization, planning, and overcoming adversity. James summarized what he learned from this experience by saying "if you make a plan and put in enough effort for something ... and surround yourself with people who want to help, you could probably ... overcome all kinds of stuff." This lesson applies outside of the gym as well.
Steve's Club is a non-profit CrossFit affiliate dedicated to improving the lives of urban youth in Camden, NJ. To find out more about supporting Steve's Club, click here.
