Rogue Vs AF Tahoe Throwdown
Tahoe Event 19: Overhead Squats, Shuttle Run, and Double Unders
Salo, Holmberg, Spealler, and Orlando vs. Hobart, Froning Jr., Barber, and Malleolo
Score After 18 Events:
Rogue: 28
Again Faster: 25
Rogue's win in Event 18 earned them a three point lead. Two events remained in the competition. Event 19 was a four on four, male-only event. It was worth five points. With this event, Again Faster would either pull ahead of Rogue, or fall eight points behind.
The athletes headed to a soccer field for an all-star competition. Rogue sent forward Mikko Salo, Graham Holmberg, Chris Spealler, and Rob Orlando. Again Faster went with James Hobart, Rich Froning Jr., Pat Barber, and Austin Malleolo.
This event included most of the biggest names of the 2010 CrossFit Games male competition. The first, second, third, fifth, and sixth place finishers all competed in this event.
Event 19
85 pound overhead squat, 200 reps as a team. One bar per team.
Each team member completes a full suicide shuttle run of the soccer field. One athlete runs at a time.
400 double-unders, complete as a team. One rope moves at a time.
The soccer field introduced a new variable into some standard CrossFit movements. Some of the athletes were less familiar with the quick turn-arounds of shuttle running. The double-unders took place on the soccer field turf, making them difficult even for the most practiced athletes of the group. The competition was very close, creating some especially intense match-ups on the shuttle runs.
