Rogue Vs AF Tahoe Throwdown
Tahoe Event 18: Push Jerks, Deadlifts, and Up and Overs
Khalipa, Phillips, and Clever, vs. Egyed, Kinney, and Bergeron
Score After 17 Events:
Again Faster: 25
Rogue: 25
Despite Tommy Hackenbruck's heroic efforts, Rogue lost Event 17. Again Faster had picked up two points, and the throwdown was tied. Three events remained in the competition worth a combined 16 points.
Event 18 was a three on three event that was worth three points. Two females and one male competed per team. The crew headed out to a playground behind CrossFit Avalanche, and took some barbells with them.
Event 18
3 rounds, as many repetitions as possible on each exercise, 1 minute per exercise:
Push Jerk, 135 pounds for men, 95 for women
Deadlift, 365 pounds for men, 205 for women
Up and overs
One repetition of the up and overs meant an athlete climbed over a piece of playground equipment and touched his feet on the opposite side.
To represent them in this event, Rogue sent forward Jason Khalipa, Christy Phillips, and Kristan Clever. Again Faster chose Peter Egyed, Michelle Kinney, and Heather Bergeron.
The event was run "Fight Gone Bad" style, with athletes aiming for as many total repetitions as possible. In contrast with Fight Gone Bad, though, this event did not include any rest breaks in between rounds.
This was one of the most grueling workouts of the entire throwdown. The up and overs proved to be much more demanding than they appeared.
