Tahoe Event 16: Cleans and Handstand Push-ups
Camille Leblanc-Bazinet vs. Miranda Oldroyd
With their win in Event 15, Rogue racked up another 8 points and pulled ahead of Again Faster. Rogue had won all four events so far in Day Two. Five events remained though, and Rogue was only ahead by three points.
Event 16 was another one on one call-out. In this call-out, both athletes would be able to suggest components of the event. Again Faster's Camille Leblanc-Bazinet initially proposed handstand walking, but her opponent Miranda Oldroyd revealed that she was unable to do that movement.
Instead, Miranda proposed power cleans at 135 lbs. Camille picked handstand push-ups. It remained up to Dave Castro and Adrian Bozman to determine the event's format. They decided upon a ladder of descending power cleans combined with a ladder of ascending handstand pushups.
135 pound Power clean, 10 reps
2 Handstand push-ups
135 pound Power clean, 8 reps
4 Handstand push-ups
135 pound Power clean, 6 reps
6 Handstand push-ups
135 pound Power cleans, 4 reps
8 Handstand push-ups
135 pound Power cleans, 2 reps
10 Handstand push-ups
Miranda is the stronger weightlifter, with a 175 lb. clean and jerk. On the other hand, Camille comes from a gymnastics background and is very strong at handstand push-ups. To Camille's dismay, Dave Castro decided to allow kipping on the handstand push-ups. Camille was worried that Miranda's strong kip would allow her to keep up on the handstand push-ups.
