Rogue Vs AF Tahoe Throwdown
Tahoe Event 14: Burpees, 85 lb. KB Snatch, and Sled Drags
LIpson and Magee vs. Hackenbruck and Orlando
Score After 13 Events:
Again Faster: 22
Rogue: 15
Two consecutive wins for Rogue at the start of Day Two suddenly made the throwdown much more interesting. Again Faster had expected to win Event 13 on the strength of their one leg squats, but Mikko and Graham handled the one leg squats well, and pulled ahead on their quicker 88 lb. kettlebell swings.
Event 14 gave Rogue an opportunity to challenge Again Faster to a workout favoring their strong points. They put forward two brutally strong athletes, Rob Orlando and Tommy Hackenbruck, and a workout that required a substantial amount of strength and stamina. It was a two-on-two male-only event.
Event 14
Each athlete completes:
25 burpees
20 kettlebell snatches, 88 lbs.
Sled drag
Both athletes from a team would do the burpees at the same time, but they had to alternate on the snatches. There were two sleds per team, so each athlete on a team had his own sled to drag. The first team to get both sleds to the finish line would win.
Again Faster faced a strategic dilemma with this workout. They knew that Rob and Tommy would be very fast on the kettlebell snatches, but they were wary of using their punk card to veto the workout. Again Faster team captain Jon Gilson suspected that Rogue had an even more strength-oriented challenge up their sleeves. If Again Faster used their punk card on this one, then they would be at Rogue's mercy for whatever they came up with next.
Jon Gilson decided to accept their challenge. He chose Dave Lipson and Eric Magee to take on Rob and Tommy.
