An Interview with Matt Chan at the Rogue vs. Again Faster Tahoe Throwdown
What It's Like To Be a CrossFit Celebrity
Matt Chan has been a top CrossFitter for several years. He came in eighth at the 2008 CrossFit Games, eighteenth in 2009, and fourth in 2010. Matt also won the 94 kilo weight class at the CrossFit/USAW Open, in addition to posting the highest overall point total for all weight classes.
With such impressive performances, it's no surprise that Matt has become a well-known figure in the CrossFit community. Matt sees his CrossFit celebrity status as an opportunity to meet more people within the CrossFit community. He knows that even though he might not know someone, with such a tight-knit community, he's sure to see them again.
Rogue Fitness supplies much of Matt's training equipment. He's happy to think that soon, people will be able to make a living training as CF athletes. At 32, Matt doesn't think he'll be around long enough to take advantage of the professionalization of CrossFit competition.
