Caity Henniger Calls out Stacy Berube
James Hobart's win over Tommy Hackenbruck in the burpee and chest-to-bar pullup call-out had extended Again Faster's lead by a point. Rogue was looking to get some momentum going. They turned to Caity Henniger, the 2008 CrossFit Games champion.
Henniger (formerly Matter), proved she could dominate heavy clean and jerks in the final event in 2008, finishing 30 squat clean and jerks at 100 lbs. in 3:30, over a minute faster than any other competitor. She called out Stacy Berube, formerly Kroon, to the following challenge:
As many repetitions as possible in 1 minute:
135 pound Clean and Jerk
Berube finished 10th in the 2009 CrossFit Games, but she narrowly missed qualifying in 2010 with a fourth place finish at the Northeast Regional. While the heavy clean and jerks played to Henniger's impressive strength and power, Berube's superior conditioning and efficient technique would be an advantage in the final seconds. Only one repetition separated winner from loser in this event.
