Sarah Wilson and CFE Take on the Endurance World
CFE Athlete Attacks the Duathlon World Championships
CrossFit Endurance training took Sarah Wilson to the ITU Duathlon World Championships in Edinburgh, Scotland. A duathlon competition consists of a 10k run, 40k cycle, and then a 5k run. The Edinburgh course was considered one of the toughest duathlon courses ever, featuring very steep climbs on the run and bike courses. Preparing in flat Southern Florida, Sarah trusted in her training at South Florida CrossFit Endurance to prepare her to tackle the hills of Edinburgh.
Sarah relied upon far less endurance training than the average duathlete, confining her runs half an hour and her rides to an hour. On race day, Sarah started off strong with a 44 minute 10k run, but a flat tire at the beginning of the bike segment took her out of contention. Despite this unfortunate turn of events, she relied on the mental toughness from her CrossFit training to persevere and complete the race. You can read Sarah's account of the race on her blog.
CrossFit Endurance was a key sponsor of the CrossFit/USAW Open held in Colorado Springs last weekend.
