Rogue Vs AF Tahoe Throwdown
Tahoe Event 10: HSPU, GHD Sit-ups, and Muscle-ups
Chan, Salo, and Khalipa vs. Egyed, Froning, and Malleolo
Score After 9 Events:
Again Faster: 14
Rogue: 8
Caity Matter Henniger's win in Event Nine's clean and jerks had earned Rogue one point, but they were still trailing Again Faster by six points. Event Ten was a three on three competition, using only male athletes. Worth three points, a win in this event would help Rogue close in on Again Faster.
In true CrossFit style, both teams had to choose their three athletes before learning what this event would be. Rogue, guessing there would be a heavy strength component, went with Matt Chan, Mikko Salo, and Jason Khalipa. Again Faster sent Peter Egyed, Rich Froning Jr., and Austin Malleolo.
When the event was revealed, it proved to be a combination of three tough bodyweight exercises.
Event Ten:
As a team complete a total of:
50 Handstand push-ups
125 GHD Sit-ups (completed by only two of the three team-members)
50 Muscle-ups
Each team would accumulate 50 handstand push-ups among its three athletes, then use only two of their athletes to achieve 125 ghd sit-ups, and then again with all three athletes complete 50 total muscle-ups on the rings.
Rogue's team contained two former Games winners, but Again Faster's crew was stacked as well, with Egyed, Froning, and Malleolo all top-ten finishers in the 2010 Games.
