Rogue Vs AF Tahoe Throwdown
Tahoe Event Five: Log flips, Running, and Push Presses
Egyed and Kinney vs. Chan and Phillips
Score After 4 Events:
Rogue: 2
Again Faster: 3
Going into Event Five, Team Again Faster was ahead of Team Rogue, but with the multi-point team events coming up, this lead was not very significant.
Event Five was a two-on-two team challenge. Each team would be composed of one male and one female. It was the first event programmed by CrossFit Director of Training Dave Castro, and the first event to be worth two points, instead of just one.
Event Five:
Each member does 10 log flips
Team run uphill around tree and back
20 barbell shoulder to overhead, rep only counts if teammate has barbell racked at same time, 135 lbs men/ 95 lbs women
Each member does 10 log flips, each team uses the log they did not use the first time
Peter Egyed and Michelle Kinney represented Team Again Faster, while Matt Chan and Christy Phillips represented Team Rogue. All four of these athletes finished in the top 10 at the 2010 CrossFit Games.
Despite the new variable of working with a log, the most challenging part of this event seemed to be a traditional CrossFit movement, the barbell shoulder to overhead lift.
