Rogue Vs AF Tahoe Throwdown
We Didn't Plan This
Greg Glassman explains the birth of CrossFit teams and competion.
CrossFit Founder and CEO Greg Glassman showed up at the Team Rogue vs. Team Again Faster Throwdown to spend time with the group of elite athletes, HQ staff, and the owners of Rogue Fitness and Again Faster.
Prior to one of the meals, Greg addressed the group about how CrossFit has developed as a sport, and CrossFit HQ's limited role in the developement of teams. According to Coach Glassman, the idea of sponsored teams rose out of having measurable workouts. Numbers led to competition, and competition eventually led to teams.
Of course, teams require sponsors. That's where Jon Gilson of Again Faster and Bill Henniger of Rogue Fitness came in. After several years of supporting the CrossFit Games, Again Faster and Rogue Fitness decided to take that support one step further by helping top athletes get the funding and gear they needed to train. Once those teams were assembled, it was only a matter of time before they would compete.

Of course, teams require sponsors? why? You have had affiliate competition for several years with the athletes paying their own way.
