The Second Place Finisher From the Games Takes on a New Challenge
If you haven't heard of Rich Froning Jr., then you haven't been paying attention. The 23 year old from Cookeville, Tennessee took a small lead into the final event(s) of this year's Games, before his chances of victory were dashed by rope climbs. He ended the weekend in second place overall and demonstrated some freaky work capacity in the process.
Rich is competing the in the CrossFit/USAW Open in a few short weeks at the Cheyenne Mountain Resort. The action will be streamed live over the internet for free.
Rich is lifting hard in the run up to the competition, but not at the cost of specialization. He is still sprinkling power lifting and Metcons into his routine.
What about the uniform? Rich has a cousin who was a competitive wrestler and has already offered his favorite singlet beset with a shamrock to represent their Irish heritage. But will he rock it? "We'll see," Rich says through grin… "We'll see."
