The Mindset for Weightlifting

More Advice from the Burgeners

With the CrossFit/USAW Open fast approaching, nearly of the physical preparation for the event has already occurred. Athletes can still control, however, one important variable: their mindset. Emotions play an important role in physical performance. Sometimes it's necessary for an athlete to dial up his energy level. On the other hand, it can also sometimes be beneficial for a competitor to relax and take confidence in his training.

In this video, two world-class weightlifters, Casey and Natalie Burgener, discuss techniques they've learned to manipulate their emotions to their benefit. Even in elite competition, one of the most important techniques is simply remembering to have fun.
