Mental Cues for the CrossFit/USAW Open
Get in your head
Weightlifting is a technical sport. Athletes who train the olympic lifts often have dozens of different aspects of technique in their minds: back tight, heels, finish the pull, get under fast, don't bend the arms early, etc. In this video, Cherie Chan, a CrossFit HQ trainer, asks Casey and Natalie Burgener, two world-class weightlifters, about the mental cues they use when stepping on the platform.
They reveal the surprisingly simple cues that they keep in their minds when they set up to lift. Those athletes competing in the CrossFit/USAW Open will do well to heed these experts advice. Cherie will be competing in the 63k class. Casey and Natalie will be on site providing guest commentary and a weightlifting exhibition.
