Graham Holmberg Interview: "Hell-In"
The Champ Dissects The Pyramid Double Helen Event
The CrossFit WOD "Helen" is a fast and furious test of an athlete's aerobic capacity, stamina and willingness to embrace discomfort. Competitors completed the equivalent of 2 full 'Helens' in Event 2a of the 2010 CrossFit Games. They were immediately tasked with completing a max shoulder to overhead lift within 90 seconds of finishing. The event was respectfully referred to as, "Hell-in," by some athletes.
Graham Holmberg owned Event 2. He clocked the fastest overall time of the day in the run/swing/pull-up portion at 16:59 (3 seconds ahead of Chris Spealler, and 35 seconds ahead of third place Peter Egyed).
Not more than a minute later, Graham loaded a bar with 285 pounds and put it over his head. This was good enough to secure 3rd place overall in the overhead event. Likewise, it established early on that Graham was the competitor to watch.
In this video, the boys from Again Faster talk to Graham about the training that led to his success in the event. The interview is supplemented by footage of Graham's effort from the live feed footage.
