Masters athletes blaze through Nancy.
2010 brought the addition of the Master's Division to CrossFit Games competition. Any early doubts that the competition was worth it's salt were dashed by the level of competition we saw at the Regional level. Athletes over 50 years old consistently produced numbers that any 25 year old athelete would be envious of.
The Masters competition was slightly different than that of the individual. Athletes competed in their own geographic region in the same events. They were tested against a worldwide field of their peers. In the end, the top 15 male and female competitors from around the globe were invited to the Home Depot Center for the Games final.
All 15 athletes competed in one large heat for all events. The first event was a traditional CrossFit WOD - Nancy. On a standard olympic track, athletes completed the following.
5 rounds for time of:
Run 400 meters
15 Overhead squats (65/95 lb.)
Both the men and the women turned in blazing times. The top male competitor for this event was Larry Silber, from NW CrossFit (13:42). Bryan Curly, CrossFit New England was right on his heels (13:50). The women's heat ended in a sprint to the finish with Gabriele Schlicht, CrossFit Hardcore, taking the top time (14:10) just 3 seconds ahead of Laurie Carver, NW CrossFit (14:13).

Nice job on that WOD you and Brian killed it. Your right about the camaraderie, the Masters men and women were all awesome people. I think I am going to have to do Nancy once a month for the next year, that was the first time I RX'd it...my shoulders still hurt :).
