2010 CrossFit Games Finals

Sponsor Profile: Paleo Treats

Intensity you can taste

Remember in Dust to Glory those plumes kicked up by a Baja 1000 racer clouding out that blood-red sunset? That, the disappearing hell-rider bound for parts unknown, venturing toward mystery and ass-clenching adventure just over the horizon, that is the essence of Paleo Treats.

Paleo Treats are macaroons, chocolate bars, and coming out at the 2010 Games, brownies and a Paleo recovery shake. Paleo Treats are that great finale to a world class meal--a lip smacking dessert. Paleo Treats are the distilled essence of what we, Dave, Lee, and Nik, think of as the Good Life.

It's the essence you get in every ripping chomp of our hog-foot sized cookies, it's the reason we barnacle onto a dirtbike at 50 or one-arm the rope swing with all eyes on or two-hand the sledge to get the work done. It's the reason you throw another 10 on the bar when you're supposed to only go up by 5. It's that extra zap-punch of energy you get when you know the people making your food have left the kitchen a shambles in their quest for arete.

Our Operating Agreement, which we drew up before we did any business stated, "We want to make sure the food we sell is healthy and does as little harm as possible to the environment. We hold excellence in ingredients, service, communication, and behaviors as important qualities for this entity."

This idea of arete, of excellence pure and clean and simple and hot as a thousand burning suns is at the base of what we're doing at Paleo Treats. It's selfish and self-centered and utterly focused on us in a way that we know to be the white laser searchlight of self-truth, way more important than any external moral compass.

Launched at the 2009 CrossFit Games, Paleo Treats was an instant success thanks to the intensity of you, the "CrossFit personality"; and athletes single-minded in their pursuit of excellence swarmed the booth, letting us know in no uncertain terms that Paleo Treats are an excellent answer in the quest for a healthy dessert.

We live the idea that simplicity and beauty are byproducts of arete, and whether you bake a cookie or throw a punch or hook into a high mountain trout you create excellence with a single-minded focus on the task at hand.

So the next time you see Paleo Treats, whether it's in the form of the chocolate macaroon we christened the Mac-Attack (since copied but never matched) or it's in that first sip of our Fossil Fuel recovery shake  that debuts at the 2010 CrossFit Games, know that you're getting more than the best ingredients on the planet; you're getting the very essence of intensity.

Thank you for your support in our quest for excellence, and enjoy the fruits of our labors!
