What is your athletic background?
In Jr. High and High school I dabbled in volleyball, basketball and a couple of other things, but cross country and track were my main competitive sports. I continued with cross country and track throughout college, but focused mainly on pole vaulting. After college I continued working out on my own just to stay in shape for all my active, outdoor hobbies. I also coached track, cross country and girls' basketball for several years (which was good motivation to stay in shape- to not embarrass oneself in front of middle school girl athletes). I competed in triathalons, road races, and mountain bike racing to satisfy my itch for competition. Then in january of 2009 I started CrossFit and here I am.
What is your history with CrossFit?
My brother-in-law, who is a police officer, started CrossFit in his garage a couple of years ago. He got my husband to come over for some workouts and eventually got me in on it too. I dug it, but at the time I was in the middle of a mountain bike racing season and a busy work schedule so I didn't want to sacrifice too much of my riding time for "other workouts". I did some CrossFit workouts here and there, but it wasn't until a few months later, in January 2009, that I jumped in with both feet and never looked back. We moved from California to New Jersey where they have this season called "winter", so we payed to go to a globo gym to do our WODs out of the elements. Eventually we bought some of our own equipment (and sucked it up in the winter time) and now work out in our garage. We are loving every minute of it!
