Hawaii Sectional Wrap-up
Hawaiian Sectional director Bryant Powers checks in from the Aloha State.
Only a week late and true to laid back nature of the island here is the wrap up for the Hawaiian Sectionals from director Bryant Powers.
"We had a blast this weekend and everything went better then we could have ever planned. The completion was intense and crowd was super loud in cheering them on though all the ups-and-downs the grueling weekend. I have the utmost respect of everyone who put their heart on the line and competed.
From a community standpoint the Sectionals were just what we need out here. It was the first time that most of the Affiliates have been together in one spot. Next year I bet we will have about 8 times as many athletes at Sectionals once everybody goes back to their boxes and tell their friends how fun the weekend was.
Finally I can't leave with out bring up the programming which caused quite a stir. I think (because I programmed it) that it was a fair and challenging test of who was the fittest out here in Hawaii. Let me know what you think (too much volume, skills are great to test, etc) in the comments, I will answer you questions on why I did what I did and I will be post posting some stats on how many people passed each skill test and such."

I think the sectional programming was awesome. The event aren't meant to be workouts to improve fitness (even though going through them, you probably end up more fit) rather they are supposed to be tests of fitness.
Almost everybody that entered finished the weekend. I bet there will be a lot of eyes on your top three guys when they come out for regionals.

The programming was obviously very challenging and games worthy. It seemed at the sectional level though that the demands were comparatively high to other sites with short recovery time before the regionals. All the best and congratulations to the top athletes.

From a spectator's viewpoint the Hawaii sectional was perhaps the highest display of all around athleticism I've had the pleasure of viewing in many years. Determination, dedication, strength, balance, skill set, and endurance merged to create an excellent atmosphere of competition, camaraderie, and sportsmanship...intense, insane, inspirational. Thanks to Bryant for putting together and hosting such an outstanding program.
