The Florida Sectional Is Giving Back
The Florida Sectional has chosen Vita Nova of Renaissance Village as a charitable beneficiary of their event. Vita Nova provides transitional housing and life skills for teens aging out of foster care and entering society with no 'family support' or 'fall back plan.'
"Our goal is to provide them fitness equipment for their facility as well as some nutritional counseling. The event organizers have earmarked all event-day gate fees, event beverage sales, and a portion of registration fees to go directly to them," said event officials.
"We encourage our clients to inform us of charitable causes they are involved with and try to support them," says Todd Lynch of BGI Fitness. "We have gotten the opportunity to support some pretty amazing organizations that we didn't even know existed. We have striven to raise awareness of these less well known causes. Larger organizations (Red Cross, Goodwill, Salvation Army, etc.) have a huge support structure. We are interested in the grass roots organizations in our local community."
"Immediately we found Nova of Renaissance Village intriguing. Amongst other things they are tasked with teaching 'health and wellness' to the kids. We wanted to be able to deliver our message. We closed the gym one Saturday and brought the kids in. They received lectures on nutrition and CrossFit, before completing a WOD. We helped them plan WODs with minimal equipment needs. Everyone involved had an extremely rewarding experience. We hope to outfit their living residence with 'CrossFit' equipment they can use. In the meantime, we are excited to have them back soon.We have a unique opportunity to make a huge impact and positively influence these children with an introduction to fitness as a lifestyle."

What a great idea! This is the type of generosity that makes me proud to be a part of this community. I hope this is a movement that takes hold and spreads throughout the growing layers of organized competitions.

Vita Nova is a transitional home located in West Palm Beach, Florida for young adults coming out of foster care or those that have become homeless due to circumstances out of their control.
Vita Nova provides life skills, financial assistance, and a safe haven to live while these young adults are trying to continue their education. I am extremely fortunate to be involved with this organization and very grateful to BGI (Todd and Dana Lynch) for opening their hearts and doors to Vita Nova.
Thanks, Mary Bart Houston aka "Houston" at BGI
